We don't really have doctors who could trouble shoot this sort of thing, what with Earth being a deadish planet and all.

So it's like a wasteland now?

What? Oh! Oh no, I'm not making myself clear. It's a bustling metropolis of like, eight billion people. But the knowledge of magic is near oblivious and sensing it is scarce. Not unless you know where to look for it.

Oh! Oh I see! [He bursts out laughing.] I get it. My world is the same. You never hear about magic ever unless you have magic.

Yeah, it didn't sound confusing in my head! [A small giggle. ]

But it sounds like we're from about the same place. Kindof sortof.

We're at least from the same understanding of how magic works for most of the world anyway!

Mmhmm! On my donut, everyone's all over the pyramids and Ley lines and then there's the paranormal. Where my brother lives, there's the Umbra. It's like a fog of chaotic magic that nullifies technology.

Wow. It seriously just nullifies it completely?

[whrrenah]

Mmhmm. I had a friend help me experiment. Over land, it's about 30 meters above the ground that electronics go kablooey and over water, it's 15 meters. And if you don't take the tech out of the Umbra quickly enough, not only does it stop working, it also self-combusts. It's really weird.

Woah! It explodes? [He gasps in surprise.]

The magic must be so strong there that sensitive things like technology can't handle it.

That was my observation, too.


[She nods]


And from my understanding the higher you go, the more chaotic it becomes. I don’t want to find out what happens when people go that high. But then again, Dragons fly that high and they’re fine.

I wonder if there's something about dragons that protects them. Like maybe they have magic in their scales. A lot of stories seem to imply that.

[whrrenah]

[ She looks a little alarmed by that notion. ]

I think--hope, actually, it's more that they're magical creatures to begin with.

I wonder if I'd be okay since I'm a magical creature too...

[He can't help thinking about it! It's an interesting possibility.]

I don't know. Maybe? You'd have to convince a dragon to take you up there.

Are they hard to convince?

[whrrenah]

For the most part. They wouldn't comprehend why someone human shaped would want to go up there, first. And second, it would be like an ant talking to a person. The dragon might not bother to notice you.

Oh that makes sense. Dragons have so much different lore that it's hard to piece it all together. Fae are the same way honestly.

[whrrenah]

Mmmhmm. In some places, they say that unicorns are Fae or cousins to Fae. What do you think about that?

[hideawayparadise]

[He blinks at that then thinks about that, looking up as he ponders it.] I could see that actually. Because they're both creatures very strongly associated with nature most commonly. Protectors of it. It would make a lot of sense that they would family tied together in some way.

[whrrenah]

[Nods with a hum of agreement]

Agreed. They have bad reactions to iron, too.

Wow they do? Maybe they are more closely tied to the Fae than I realized.

[whrrenah]

Maybe! I mean, it looks like that. Do Fae bleed red? Unicorns bleed silver.

[hideawayparadise]

I think that it depends on the kind of Fae. Because Will and I bleed red but I've seen one bleed green. And then when I fought the Unseelie Queen she bled black.

[whrrenah]

Really! That's so interesting. I wonder why the blood is a different color. They must not use hemoglobin as the carrier for oxygen. Green would be copper, though. But black?
