Well shit. Riley was gold just like Porsche and Pete. Smiling shyly, he goes in for a spoonful of ice cream for himself. The statement was so sure that Kinn at first wanted to contradict that. He wasn't a nice man. He wasn't a good man. He had killed people. And yet, Riley didn't give a rat's ass about who he was.
"You're one in a million, Riley. I'll fight the Fae off by hand myself if they ever show up."
"Hopefully they don't come at all because I really don't want you to get hurt. But if you do want to fight them you should have cold iron on you. Pure iron, by the way. An alloy like steel won't work."
Had he tested this in the past? Yes. Very, very, very carefully. After all, he couldn't touch iron either. He was still a full blooded Fae himself which meant that it burned him as well whether he wanted it to or not. "It's kind of like they're allergic to it. It'll burn them badly if they come into contact with it."
Kinn nodded, filing that away for future reference should he ever need it. "I'll keep a note on that."
He took another spoonful of ice cream, a chocolate bit this time as he hummed softly. "Vegas is my cousin. He's a psychopath. Don't get in a tussle with him," Kinn's warning was serious. "Pete's his boyfriend and leash, so to speak." Kinn wondered if Riley remembered his connection between the two. "And Theerapanyakuls, if anything, are possessive of what they claim as theirs." It didn't matter if it was an object or a person, they guarded their own like dragons with a horde.
"And then there's Tay, my best friend. He's sweet and prissy." Didn't mean he was any less of a killer, though.
He ate bites of ice cream while he listened. The descriptions of these people were a little weird but he nodded to show he was paying attention. Not like he planned on getting into a tussle with anyone but sure.
"So they're really tied at the hip. Got it."
Not like he was going to take anyone away from anyone. He had two boyfriends he was very happy with. "So Tay's apparently the safe one?"
Kinn considers that and makes a see-saw motion with his hand. "He's good with a gun. Hands, not so much. But he's also a tease. So unless fae have a weakness to seduction."
"He won't get me. I promised my boyfriends that I was completely theirs."
And since he couldn't lie that meant he had to keep that promise. There was a beauty in the lying thing Fae had at times. "So faithfulness is rare... But it seems like things are working well for you and your boyfriend. At least based on how you talk about him."
"We had a very bumpy start, but I believe we're doing well." Added complications of business notwithstanding. "Tay hasn't been so lucky. I'm not sure what he'll do here."
"Well I'll take care of him as best I can. He's a friend of yours so if there's something I can do for him then I will." What was family for, after all? Speaking of family though he couldn't help but laugh a little around his spoon.
"Kind of weird to think about how you're my big brother and now your cousin is here, right?"
Still working on the relief that Riley didn't outright slug him or berate him for being mafia, he blinked a bit, tilting his head. "How is that?" Kinn didn't quite know what he meant by the weird factor. Then again, he's had to put up with a lot, so he's not certain sometimes, what others would account for 'normal.'
"Because he's not really my cousin too. I'm just your brother but I'm not tied to your crazy cousin." It was funny to think about. Kinn had adopted him and he'd adopted Kinn in return. But the rest of the family was a completely different entity all its own.
"The family you're born into and the family you choose are not always the same," Kinn replied thoughtfully. He nudges Riley lightly. "You're my family, not my mafia family. Understand?"
"What? You don't think I'd make a scary mafia?" He pretended like he even had a hope of stabbing Kinn with his spoon before bursting out laughing. "Don't worry. I know we're real family and not mafia family. I really look at you like a brother."
Kinn smiled at that. It was true and genuine and he rubbed the back of his head before jumping a bit at the 'stab.' "Then you don't have to worry about a thing."
Neither did he, either. Except maybe building his arsenal a bit more.
"So that's who's here. Who you should watch out for and everything."
"Vegas...scary. Pete...reliable but attached to scary. Tay...safe but a quiet badass." Riley smiled at him to let him know that he understood. He had to be careful around the first two because of Vegas but Tay was alright for him to spend time with. He could remember that.
"I'm glad you're not alone here anymore. And I hope you get to be reunited with Porsche soon too."
At the mention of Porsche, he could feel his throat close up. He just gives a tight smile, nodding a bit in thanks. It's enough for him to throw up a wai in the process.
Reaching over, he rested a hand on Kinn's arm. Gently he gave it a squeeze as he leaned forward a bit. "Tell me more about him? So that way I'll know exactly who to look for to bring him right to you when he shows up."
His laugh is too wet for his liking and forces himself to ignore it. "Porsche is tanned, clean-shaven, and an idiot. Actually, he's a bit better now, less of an idiot-better off hiding it, at least. Likes to have fun, fiercely loyal to family and friends. And he can handle firearms as good as any of us." He pauses a moment. "He used to be a national champion in taekwondo."
Just listening to Kinn he could tell how much Porsche meant to him. It made him smile as he nodded. Those were all amazing traits in a boyfriend. But he also understood that talking more about this was making his brother sad. So he gave a bump to his shoulder to tease him a little. "You want people to think you're such a badass but you're really a sap. Look at you."
Kinn had to stop and glare at Riley. Finally, as he pulled himself together, he stuck his tongue out. "You're a jerk, you know that." He doesn't mean it. But it's better than agreeing with him outright.
Riley laughed at that, taking a scoop of ice cream that was far too big for a mouth but shoving all of it into his anyway. Which meant he couldn't talk but he clearly looked so pleased with himself which spoke volumes. But hey, it at least offered Kinn a distraction from being sad which as the real intention.
"You choke on that and you'll die. I don't know the Heimlich." Which... okay, he sort of did but it wasn't like he used it on a regular basis. Or for it's original intent, either.
"If ice crem. Will mel'." Riley looked so smug as he sucked on the ice cream in his mouth so that way he could get to a size where he would be able to swallow it.
Swallowing the ice cream in his mouth, it was his turn to stick his tongue out at Kinn. "I would have the best brain if it was a snow cone! Those are delicious!"

He shrugs a bit. "Fidelity in the mafia is rare."

It was nice to smile a bit, have some comradery with someone around here. And Kinn seriously hoped he would make it home soon.

Surprise, surprise. He loved another sweet thing.
